Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) Is mandatory and is included in the rate quoted.
The renter, regardless of who is at fault, is liable to pay Avis Cook Islands in the event of an accident, fire or theft to the Avis Vehicle 2000.00 NZD.
The renter is responsible for all damage charges in the following situations whether excess reduction is purchased or not:
Excess (insurance) does not cover the renters personal property within the vehicle or injury or harm to the renter or passengers.
Avis Cook Islands (Rarotonga) accepts MasterCard and Visa cards only.
All rentals are subject to a deposit at time of vehicle collection to cover miscellaneous/optional charges, the amount deducted will be the applicable insurance excess and a $100 fuel bond. Deposits can only be made by credit card.
The amount of deposit may be debited to the card at rental collection; or an authority is taken until the conclusion of rental when the applicable deposited amount may be debited.

A valid full or provisional driving license from the renter's country of residence must be presented in person at the time of rental. If the license is in a language other than English, it must be accompanied by An International Driving Permit (IDP).
In according with section 17a of the Cook Islands Transport Amendment Act 2014, if a provisional driving license is held, the driver must obtain a local Cook Islands driving permit (not required for holders of a full driving license). Please see Miscellaneous for more information.
An International Driving Permit (IDP) serves only as a translation of a driver's existing license, and by itself is not acceptable for vehicle rental.
Holders of a provisional driving license can obtain a local Cook Islands driving permit from Avis at the International terminal upon collection of vehicle or from the Police Station in downtown Avarua.

Public liability insurance is in accordance with the insurance laws of the country. Customer may inquire at the time of rental for additional information of the benefits, conditions and acceptance.
Note: Some credit cards provide insurance coverage, with certain limitations, as a benefit of using the card to rent vehicles. The customer is advised to contact the card issuer before the rental. Any waiver must be discussed directly with the location upon arrival.
At this location the minimum age is 21 years except group X & W Toyota Hiace Vans which is 25 years. There is no maximum age.
