Nashville Travel FAQs

Nashville is a major city with many exciting can’t-miss attractions. When creating your itinerary for a trip to Nashville, make sure you include a visit to the Grand Ole Opry, Ryman Auditorium, the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum, the Johnny Cash Museum, and the Parthenon.

While this depends on your plans, you’ll appreciate the freedom you get from having a vehicle at your beck and call. Not having a rental car will make it more challenging to get around the city and explore neighborhoods, attractions, and restaurants outside the downtown area. Nashville public transportation is somewhat limited, and rideshare or taxi services can quickly get expensive.

Downtown Nashville and Music Valley are the most popular tourist areas to stay in. If you stay downtown, you’ll have easy access to the city’s exciting nightlife and many popular attractions. Music Valley is another excellent option because it provides easy access to Grand Ole Opry and various unique tourist attractions, such as the Electric Dolly Mural or the Willie Nelson and Friends Museum.

Traffic is at its worst during rush hour, which takes place every day from 7:00 AM to 9:00 and between 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM. While you should avoid rush hour travel if possible, we recommend you give yourself extra time to reach destinations and adjust for potential traffic times if necessary. (source)

Spring and fall are often considered the best times to visit Nashville because you’ll often enjoy more moderate temperatures, fewer crowds, and cheaper travel costs. We recommend you time your visit between April and May or September and October unless you’re interested in a specific Nashville event or music festival.
