Yes, driving in Miami can be difficult, but knowing what to expect will help make it smoother. Traffic in Miami can involve gridlock during rush hour. Fortunately, several area highways, such as Interstate 95, and toll roads can help you avoid some of the more congested areas.

Yes, unless otherwise indicated, you can turn right on a red light in Miami. That being said, the areas of town frequented by tourists tend to have a lot of pedestrian and bicycle traffic, so always be extra cautious before making a right turn. Crosswalks near the beach can be especially busy.

Fort Lauderdale is 30 miles from Miami. The most direct route is via Interstate 95, and you can get there in just over half an hour in light traffic. There are three airports in Miami and others nearby.
