We don't accept Maestro cards, Visa Electron Cards, Cirrus cards, JCB cards, any pre-paid cards even if they carry the Visa or MasterCard logo or any other cards not listed above.
We also do not accept cash.
Unless confirmed otherwise, the amount of the pre-authorisation taken on pick-up of the rental vehicle is calculated as follows:
The Excess Amount: For car groups A, B, C and N GBP 1200.00, all other car groups GBP 1500.00
Debit cards are not accepted.
Requirement to bring a valid driving licence with you.
In the Republic of Ireland, all drivers must bring their valid licence with them.
Minimum licence requirements
All drivers must have held their licences for at least 2 years from the date of pick-up. Additionally, all drivers must have been eligible to hold valid licence for a minimum of 8 to 12 years depending on car group.
If a licence does not show the driver has held it for the minimum period, then they must provide evidence, such as:

They will not be able to drive our vehicles.
Valid form of identification
Along with your driving licence, to qualify to rent, further security checks may be required, up to and including proof of a return flight coinciding with the rental period, two forms of photo ID, and proof of address matching the driver’s licence:
If you do not pass our identification checks and you are an Irish resident, you may also be required to provide proof of where you live this could include a recent utility bill or bank statement. In these circumstances, your driving licence will not be accepted as proof of your address.
Public liability insurance is in accordance with the insurance laws of the country. Customer may inquire at the time of rental for additional information of the benefits, conditions and acceptance.
Note: Some credit cards provide insurance coverage, with certain limitations, as a benefit of using the card to rent vehicles. The customer is advised to contact the card issuer before the rental. Any waiver must be discussed directly with the location upon arrival.
Additional drivers must be approved and specified on the Rental Agreement Form. You must not let anyone else drive the vehicle.
All additional drivers must meet our driving licence and ID requirements (additional driver surcharges may also apply).
If we agree to additional drivers, any fees and surcharges will be stated on your Rental Agreement Form.
You will be responsible for all costs whether they’re down to you or your additional drivers. It is your responsibility to make sure all additional drivers read the terms set out in the Rental Agreement carefully before they drive the vehicle.
We charge a fee for every Additional Driver we allow to drive the vehicle. The price is GBP 13.00 per day, per driver.
Minimum driver age restrictions
There are no minimum age restrictions in the Republic of Ireland. However, you must meet the Minimum licence requirements.
Maximum driver age restrictions
When you book, you'll be told if there are any maximum age restrictions for the vehicle you request. If you're not sure, please check your booking confirmation email or call the reservations team.

If you cancel your booking on the same day the reservation is made, no cancellation fee will be applied.
If you cancel your booking up to 3 days prior to collection a cancellation fee of 40 EUR/ 50 EUR will apply by way of compensation to AFC.
If you fail to cancel your reservation within 3 days prior to the rental date and time shown in your booking, the full amount of the prepayment will be charged by way of compensation to AFC.
In order to obtain a refund of the amount you have paid for your voucher (where applicable) you must write to the following address requesting the money be refunded.

To clarify, no refund will be given if:
You change your booking and the charges for the Rental Services are less than the amount you paid for the original booking.
You can amend your booking at no charge, either through the call centre or on-line. Bear in mind that any changes to the rental may result in a different rate.

You are not allowed to take your vehicle outside the country.
If you want to drive into the Republic of Ireland, your rental will be subject to a cross border fee of GBP 26.68, and you must agree this with us in advance of travel. This fee covers cross border vehicle retrieval in case of breakdown. AVIS vehicles may not be taken outside of the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland
In these circumstances you will be charged a "call out" charge for our partners to come out and provide assistance "roadside". This charge will be calculated by our local partners based on the costs incurred while recovering the vehicle and are in addition to the Cross Border Fee of GBP 26.68
CDW (Collision Damage Waiver) and Theft Protection insurance reduce your financial liability for damage or theft of the vehicle.
By declining these insurances you are taking responsibility to arrange your own cover and assume full financial liability up to the value of the vehicle for losses arising as a result of loss or damage to the vehicle. Written proof of CDW and Theft Protection coverage in Ireland will be required when picking up the vehicle .
We recommend that you fully understand the conditions of cover provided by your credit card company when using your card for insurance cover. Please ensure you contact your Credit Card Provider to ensure they cover the Republic Of Ireland.
Customers declining CDW and Theft Protection are required
To pay an administration fee of 30.00 EUR applies for use of this service.
For any claims made when using insurance other than Avis, then we will deal with the renter and not with their insurance provider.
If you wish to extend your rental while on rent, you should contact the station that you picked the car up from. Their contact details will be on the rental agreement you are given at the start of the rental.

Toll Roads
All toll payments are the renter's responsibility and should be paid directly to the toll operators.
Customers travelling on the m50 in Dublin should be aware there is a barrier-free tolling system (eflow) between junction 6 and junction 7. The vehicle
registration number is recorded to facilitate payment by the means listed below, there are no toll booths.
As the renter of the vehicle, you are responsible for payment of this charge. Payment must be made before 8pm on the day following your journey. Details on toll payments can be found here: www.avis.ie/tolls
Fuel charges - traditional fuel (diesel or petrol) and hybrid vehicles
Returning the vehicle
Unless you agreed a different refuelling option (see below), you must return the vehicle to us with the same amount of fuel it had in it when you picked it up usually a full tank as shown on the factory-installed fuel gauge or automatically logged in respect of connected cars. We recommend you fill up as close to the return location as you can on the return date and keep the receipt to show us. If you don't return the vehicle with a full tank and you can't show us a receipt for fuel we will charge you.
Fully electric vehicles
We charge a fixed amount dependent on the battery life showing on the factory-installed battery gauge. This is the "Pay on Return" rate. The amounts charged are set out below:

You can book your GPS on-line, but you cannot pre-pay for it on-line. It will be charged at the desk. Rates are 15 EUR per day.
If you have booked a rate that includes the basic insurance (CDW = collision damage waiver and theft protection), then in the case of an accident you will be liable for the first 1322.00 EUR+VAT to 2643.00 EUR+VAT depending on the car size, for any damage that is caused to your rental car.
Restrictions may be reduced where renters provide their own fully comprehensive insurance cover, by prior arrangement only. If you have your own insurance cover, you must produce a copy of your motor insurance policy at the time of rental.
You have the option to purchase additional insurance at the desk, which will reduce your excess to 0, with the exception of keys. The rate for this additional insurance is from 19.50 EUR to 28 EUR per day including VAT,depending on the car size. Windscreen cover is available from 4 EUR per day including VAT.
If you want to pick up the vehicle and return it to a different location in Northern Ireland, no additional fee will be payable.
Drop offs at a different location must be agreed with us in advance.
One Way rentals between Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland are permitted at a cost of UKL 208.80 GBP per rental. Vehicles may be driven within the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland, but may not be taken off the island of Ireland.
GPS (satellite navigation system)
The fee for renting a GPS is GBP 15.00 per day. If the GPS is damaged, lost or stolen, you'll have to pay for a replacement. This is likely to cost between GBP 100.00 and GBP 150.00 on top of the hire fee
Car seats
We offer infant and child seats. An infant seat is typically suitable for a child aged 9 months to 4 years old and weighing between 9 and 18 kilos. A child seat is typically suitable for a child aged 4 to 11 years old and weighing between 15 and 36 kilos.
In some rental locations, we may arrange for a third party to fit the seat for you. But remember, it is always your responsibility to check the seat is fitted correctly before you drive away.
The fee for renting a seat is GBP 15.00 per day.
If the seat is damaged, lost or stolen, you will have to pay for a replacement. This is likely to cost between GBP 100.00 and GBP 150.00 on top of the hire fee.
