Optional Coverages

Loss Damage Waiver (LDW) is Optional
Purchase of LDW reduces liability to Zero in the event of an accident, fire, or theft to the Avis vehicle. Customer is liable for full value of the Avis vehicle if Loss Damage Waiver (LDW) is declined.  Theft Protection (TP) is included in the LDW  

Partial Damage Waiver (PDW) is Optional
Purchase of PDW reduces liability to 3000.00 USD in the event of an accident, fire, or theft to the Avis vehicle. Customer is liable for full value of the Avis vehicle if PDW) is declined.

Note:  If you require additional insurance coverage you may purchase locally to reduce/remove the insurance excess.  Just ask at the Avis rental desk when you collect your car.

Global insurance coverages are always subject to change. Please verify at time of rental.

Credit Card Policies

Avis Belize accepts Avis Charge Cards, American Express, Discover Card, Mastercard / Access / Eurocard, Visa.  The minimum amount of additional credit card hold required is one day's rental charges.

Debit Card Policies

Debit cards are not accepted.

Drivers License

At the time of rental, the driver must present a valid driver's license in the driver's name from their country of residence.  Customers presenting a driver's license in a non-Roman alphabet must also present an International Driving Permit (IDP) to serve as a translation in addition to their valid drivers license.

Public Liability and Property Damage

Public liability insurance is in accordance with the insurance laws of the country.  Customer may inquire at the time of rental for additional information of the benefits, conditions and acceptance.

Note: Some credit cards provide insurance coverage, with certain limitations, as a benefit of using the card to rent vehicles.  The customer is advised to contact the card issuer before the rental.  Any waiver must be discussed directly with the location upon arrival.

Age Requirements

At this location the minimum age is 25 and maximum age id 65. 

Renters between 21-24 years are subject to a young driver fee of 50.00 USD per rental for all car groups.
