The city does have a few smaller airports, like Miami Executive Airport and Miami-Opa Locka Executive Airport, but these are for chartered private flights. However, the Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood International Airport is not far, and you can book a car rental with Avis at the Fort Lauderdale airport.
Miami airport has one of the longest average airport wait times in the United States for security. Get to the airport two hours before your domestic flight departs and three hours prior to the departure of international flights. If you rented from Avis, plan more time to return your rental car.
Yes. You can walk between the North, Central, and South terminals. There are also moving walkways and the MIA Mover to help you get from place to place. However, you may have to exit the secured areas and go through security again when walking between terminals.
