A trip to Texas wouldn’t be complete without a visit to the Fort Worth Stockyards. Step into authentic Texas culture and history at this National Historic District. Many of the original nineteenth-century structures are still here, along with many new modern entertainments.
Watch rodeos, see cattle drives, ride horses, and listen to some of the most popular country musicians perform. You can also cheer at the biweekly Wild West shows that bring classic entertainment for all ages. The restaurants offer some of the best barbecue in the state. Be sure to check their calendar for fun seasonal events, such as charity fundraisers, Easter egg hunts, and other community activities hosted in the Cowtown Coliseum.
16710 Ranch Road 965, Fredericksburg, TX 78624
This park’s most famous landmark and namesake is Enchanted Rock, a large pink granite mountain that rises approximately 425 feet above the desert floor. The surrounding area has been made a state park and a Texas Historic Landmark, and it’s the perfect place for adventure.
The wild, rocky land holds many hiking trails, biking trails, and rock climbing areas. Picnic and camping areas are plentiful, and many are pet-friendly. Drive Peach Loop, which has gorgeous outlooks and is often frequented by wildlife and is perfect for birdwatching.
